WOCC2006 CALL FOR RESEARCH PAPERS THE FIFTEENTH WIRELESS AND OPTICAL COMMUNICATIONS CONFERENCE (WOCC2006) Oct. 12-13, 2006, Hangzhou, China http://www.wocc2006.org Paper submissions due April 15, 2006 The Wireless and Optical Communications Conference has established itself as a prime international conference on multimedia, optical, and wireless communications technologies. To continue with this tradition, the fifteenth WOCC conference (WOCC2006) will provide a forum for researchers, technical experts and business leaders from the North America and Pacific Rim to share their research or experience and discuss business opportunities. WOCC2006 will be held in Hangzhou, China, Oct.12-13, 2006. WOCC2006 continues the theme of WOCC2005 in Convergent Communications over public mobile wireless networks, public fixed broadband wire line networks, and private customer premises networks. The integration of these three networks is the focus of a new next-generation network (NGN) providing convergent user-centric services that are no longer associated with the types of network access or content media. Instead, these convergent user-centric services will offer seamless delivery of multimedia applications including voice, data, image, and streaming video independent of any access technologies. The transport layer protocol is converging on Internet Protocol (IP) that propelled the growth of World Wide Web (WWW). The network and service providers will need to deploy standard-compliant converged networks and offer these new value-added services to save operational cost and grow their revenue. Convergent Communications can truly be considered as the enabler for the next phase of growth for the telecommunication industry. The conference organizers seek contributions of high quality papers addressing various aspects of wireless networking, intelligent multimedia, optical communications, semantic web services and applications, for presentation at the conference and publication in the conference proceedings. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following: Wireless networking -Management Resource and Information Management -Convergence of Fixed and Mobile Hybrid Communications System -Open Wireless Architecture (OWA) -Mobile/Wireless Networks Modeling and Simulation -Low-Power End-Devices and Wireless Communications -Security in Mobile and Wireless Networks -Analysis and Simulation of Mobile Network Protocols -Sensor Network Planning and Deployment -Wireless LAN/PAN -Location-based Services and Positioning -Mobile and Wireless Applications Intelligent Multimedia -Context-aware multimedia communications -Peer-to-peer streaming -Multimedia content distribution -Adaptive support for scalable media -Multimedia servers, operating systems, middleware Optical Communications -Optical network planning, design and modeling -Optical access/metro networks -Photonic switching system architectures and Network Elements -Optical Transmission Technologies and Systems -Optical passive components and devices -Optical active components and devices -Optical network protection and restoration -Optical network demonstrations, test beds and field trials Semantic Web Services -Multimedia applications using Semantic Web Services -Semantic Web Services discovery & selection -Semantic Web Service composition, orchestration, and choreography -Customization of Semantic Web Services -Semantic Web Services architecture -Semantic Web Services negotiation & agreement Important Dates: Full research papers: 15 April 2006 Industrial papers: 15 April 2006 Notification: 15 June 2006 Tutorial proposals: 20 June 2006 Panel proposals: 27 June 2006 Demonstrations: 03 July 2006 Camera-ready: 15 July 2006 Conference date: 12 Oct 2006 Paper submission will be electronic through the WOCC 2006 Web site (http://www.wocc2006.org/PaperSub). Authors are required to submit a paper title and short abstract (about 100 words) before submitting the paper. Papers should be submitted in IEEE format as DOC or PDF files and may not exceed 8 pages. Papers not conforming to the above requirements concerning format and length may be rejected without further consideration. All submitted manuscripts will be peer-reviewed by at least 3 program committee members. Accepted papers will appear in the conference proceedings in both hardcopy and on-line version published by the IEEE Computer Society. The conference proceeding will be indexed by EI. Extended versions of selected best papers published in the WOCC2006 will be invited for publication in an international Journal. At least one author of each accepted paper is required to register to the conference and present the paper.
